The privacy-first Google Analytics alternative

Everything you actually open GA4 for (visitors, sources, conversions, revenue) from one cookieless script that needs no consent banner and no analyst to read it.

The short answer

Google Analytics is free and enormously capable, with deep Google Ads integration and raw exports to BigQuery.

It also runs on cookies, requires a consent banner in Europe, and keeps free-tier data for at most 14 months.

Open Analytics answers the same everyday questions from one cookieless script: realtime journeys, revenue attributed to its source, Core Web Vitals, and no banner between you and your visitors.

  • Ask it in plain English. Ask Advisor, a Gemini-powered assistant, is in beta for English-language properties.
  • Realtime visitors. A separate last-30-minutes report, not a live board the whole dashboard runs on.
  • Live globe. The realtime report has a 2D map of active cities; there is no live globe of individual visitors.
  • Revenue attribution. Real attribution models, but over ecommerce events you instrument yourself; there is no payment-provider connection.
  • Every visitor's journey. User explorer, inside Explore, shows an individual user's event timeline.
  • Core Web Vitals. Nothing native; Google's own documented path is the web-vitals library plus custom events you wire up yourself.
  • Bring your history with you. Famously not even from Universal Analytics: when UA shut down in 2024, its history could not be moved into GA4.
  • Starting price. GA4's standard tier is genuinely free at almost any scale. The costs sit elsewhere: a consent banner that loses you the EEA visitors who decline, 14 months of data retention, sampled explorations. And GA4 360's price is sales-negotiated, not published.

Moving from Google Analytics

There is no Google Analytics import adapter yet. Export your GA4 history to BigQuery or CSV so it is safe, then run Open Analytics alongside GA4 (the script takes minutes to add) and switch over once you trust what you see. Most teams run both for a few weeks.

Why teams choose Open Analytics. Not just a lighter dashboard.
